Ryan Seacrest to leave ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, Mark Consuelos to become full-time co-host
In a surprise announcement made on the ABC morning show, Ryan Seacrest revealed that he will be leaving “Live with Kelly and Ryan” soon. After his exit, the show will be rebranded as “Live with Kelly and Mark” with Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa’s husband, taking over as Seacrest’s permanent replacement.
Is Ryan leaving “Live with Kelly”
Seacrest shared on Instagram this morning that he will miss working with his “work wife” Kelly Ripa and all the laughter they share. He signed on to host the show in 2017 for three years, but he loved the job and working with Kelly so much that he extended his time. He made the decision last year to stay on for one more final season.

He also shared that he will be transitioning out of “Live” in the spring to shoot the 21st season of “American Idol” in Los Angeles, continue his radio show on KIIS-FM and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve, and focus on opening three more Ryan Seacrest Foundation Studios in pediatric hospitals across the country during the summer.
Seacrest promised to guest host in the future and wished Mark Consuelos congratulations. He even joked, “feel free to remodel my dressing room!”.
In a statement, Kelly Ripa said, “I’m so grateful to have spent the last six years beside my dear friend of too many decades to count and will miss starting my days with Ryan. Ryan’s energy, passion, and love for entertainment are one-of-a-kind.” She also praised Seacrest’s character, saying that what you see is what you get and that he is a good man.
Seacrest plans to move back to the west coast full-time before “American Idol” returns with its live shows in the spring.
