My 60 year old husband was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia two years ago. I taught special ed for 31 years and worked with numerous autistic children. Can he communicate his needs or discomforts? That’s how my sons doctor classifies him as nonverbal.
I cherish every mumble that leaves my sons mouth. Just like you.I struggle with the term verbal. So many children and even adults express themselves in so many ways more than full sentences. Amos is making huge progress and I can’t wait to watch him grow and one day give you a great big conversation. If he doesn’t then that smile communicates plenty. Yes, Amos is verbal in so many ways.
