I LOVE Venice! I stayed a week on my last visit and that wasn’t long enough. I took a local walking tour that included skip the line for St Marks… the horses, the mosaics, the back of the alter (worth the extra cost ), across the canal inside the Bridge of Sighs, huge art pieces in the Doge’s Palace and the grand staircase, among others, were all pointed out and brought to life by an excellent guide. Then in the evening, when most people had left and the carts had rolled away, the pink street lights turned on and vaporetto moved smoothly across the channel in the dusk, Venice turned into pure magic!

We were there at this time last year. I hurt my ankle so they allowed me to use the elevators at St Marks. I got to see a lot of the back premises and it was fascinating. “The coronavirus can derail our travel plans…but it can’t stop our travel dreams.” Rick, best words ever!! I was supposed to leave Sunday for a 3 week – 40 years in the dreaming – trip to Exmoor National Park! There was even a one week riding holiday built in to ride on the Moor near Porlock. I am instead, “going” each day on an adventure. Today, was North Wessex Downs Area of Natural Beauty – Gives me a chance to learn about the places I want to go and to discover new places.
