Odyssey of the Mind is a thinking and planning and executing a skit or building a vehicle. It’s a competition that is quite in depth and wonderful. As a former educator and a parent who witnessed and felt the pain of exclusion that my students as well as my own children experienced along the way, this brings tears to my eyes. Will continue to say what was only confirmed this past weekend/ you are amazing and your children are going to grow up to be just as amazing. This just floors me. Is OM so serious at 9 years old that it’s ok to exclude someone? My nephew has been OM for years, he has expressed some people are better than others but never once has anyone been excluded. Total BS.

You handled the situation the in the best way possible. Thank goodness the ugly statements did not fall on his ears. At 9, I was told by the adult leaders of the girl scout that I did not fit into their vision for the troup and sent home. My Mom was at work and I cried till she got home. She tried to ease the pain but the damage to my self esteem was already done.
