I had one chew its way out of the little cardboard box the per store put him in. It was a 90 minute ride home. He hid in the car for several days. I put food and water in there for him. I finally teased him out with a fresh carrot. Damn car smelled like hamster pee and poop whenever it got hot inside.

Normally, rodents and cars don’t mix. As a mechanic, I tend to find and fix the messes that they have done on a customer’s vehicle. Messes include their nest, chewed wires, chewed hoses, chewed engine insulation, their droppings… and their carcass. The last one really gave me a fright.

This is how my family gained a cat when I was in elementary school. She was being chased by a dog and hid in the frame of a family friend’s car. My dad worked at a Sears auto center at the time, so they slooooowly drove the car there.

My pet mouse, Pixie, got out and climbed up in the closet into my Easy Bake Oven and fell down into the inside stuck in the bottom.
