In the UK there is always The Cinnamon Trust in these sorts of situations who will help elderly people either keep their dogs with them for as long as possible, or rehome them when the elderly person goes into care or passes away. Here in Canada we have a similar organisation called Elderdog. We offer in home support to elderly people with their dogs, and also we will take on those dogs if the sad time comes they can’t have them with them any longer. I’m a rehoming coordinator for the Victoria BC branch.
Sorry, but I have provision for all my animals. One 37 yo Belgian mare will be euthanized if I meet my demise ( illness or other), as she does not trailer at all, and she is NOT going on the meat truck. Nobody would want an old Belgian for any purpose and sometimes death is kinder than the options.
My other animals all have homes / places to go to and those places have been contacted.
I am the proud owner of 5.5 month old Shih tzu, and they are just the best dogs!
